Starting today, Australian website owners can register .au domains. For example, our domain is www.focusd.com.au. As of 1 pm this afternoon, we can (and have) registered for priority allocation of www.focusd.au.
But why? I’m glad you asked.
The main reason would be to prevent anyone else from sneaking in and pinching it. For example, if you owned www.example.com.au and someone registered www.example.au, some of your audience may mistakingly land on their website, not yours! If your website address ends in com.au, net.au or org.au – this applies to you. You are eligible to apply for priority allocation.
- If you registered your domain before 4 February 2018, you’re priority 1;
- If you registered your domain after 4 February 2018, you are priority 2.
The good news is, it’s easy, and we’re here to help. Contact Us, tell us your existing domains, business name, and ABN and we’ll get in touch to help you register for priority status.
